Should you buy the Fifine Ampligame A8?

If you stream your gaming, make podcasts, music or media content of any kind you know how important it is to have a good microphone. You probably also know how ridiculously expensive microphones can be. Luckily there are some great microphones that you can get for an amazing price out there now. The Fifine Ampligame A8 is definitely one that you should consider.

Who is Fifine?

Fifine is a company that has been around since 2009. They make all types of audio equipment, microphones, audio mixers and even headphones (which I really want to try out). Their goal is to provide exceptional products and customer service and to do it at a great price point. I am only familiar with their microphones. The three different ones that I have owned though all meet the above stated goal of Fifine.

Why should you buy a Fifine microphone?

I have been using a Fifine microphone for a couple of years now to make YouTube and TikTok content. My ex-wife also used one to make music. We both had the lowest priced one available at the time of purchase and they work great. I really have no complaints. So when Fifine contacted me and asked me if I would like to do a review of the Ampligame A8 I jumped at the chance. They also stressed that they wanted an honest, unbiased review which I really liked since some companies out there just want a free advertisement as opposed to a review.

But why should you buy a Fifine microphone? In my opinion there are three things that you must consider when searching for a microphone and then there are some bonuses to look for.

  1. Sound quality. There is no point in buying a microphone if the sound that you record is going to be bad. A lot of lower priced microphones are plagued by muted or muffled sound, wild swings in pitch, etc. I have never found any of these issues with a Fifine mic. The sound has always been crisp, clear and very true sounding. By that I mean the recording sounds the same as having a conversation in real life.
  2. Type of microphone required. There are a few different types of microphones. Depending on what you want to do with it there are advantages and disadvantages to the different styles. Basically you have to consider if you are recording in a studio or live. If you are in a studio you can get away with whatever type suits you the best. If you are making live content and moving around you want a mic that is designed to be held in your hand or clipped on your shirt. In this case the Ampligame A8 would not be for you. For any podcasting, game streaming, media creation, etc. though the Ampligame A8 is a great choice.
  3. Price. Let’s be honest. If you want to go out and spend hundreds of even thousands of dollars on a microphone you most likely are going to get a great sounding one. If you are just starting out though does that really make sense? If you are making online content will you really be able to tell the difference? The Fifine Ampligame A8 is very affordable. In fact it is one of the most affordable microphones that I have seen. When you combine that with it also being great at the main thing to consider, Sound Quality, it is hard to beat.

Now the bonuses…

Ampligame A8 Features

The Fifine Ampligame A8 has some features that aren’t always seen on microphones.

  1. Tap to Mute . On the top of the A8 there is a touch sensitive “button” that you can just tap to mute the mic. This is a great feature if there is suddenly some noise that pops up that you don’t want to record. Kids are great at providing this noise.
  2. Easy Connection. A lot of the more high-end microphones require a special connector to hook them up. As a result you need to have another piece of equipment to hook them up to your computer to record your audio. The Ampligame A8 has a USB-C port on the bottom and connects to your computer, phone, etc. via a USB cable. A USB-C to USB-A cable come in the box as well. On top of that it is a plug and play device so all you have to do is plug the cable in and the microphone starts working. No special software required.
  3. Built-In Gain Control. If you don’t have an audio mixer this is a very important feature to have. The Ampligame A8 has a built-in gain dial to increase or decrease the sensitivity of your mic. If you notice that your voice is a little too quiet or loud a quick turn of the dial will adjust it to how you want it. Without a mixer or this built-in knob you would have to do this via software which takes much longer and can sometimes be slightly difficult to do while you are trying to do other things like playing a game that you are streaming.
  4. Built-In Headphone Jack. This is another thing that is great to have. A lot of times when you are trying to record you are wearing headphones so you can hear your voice clearly and block out the outside noise. When your headphones are plugged into your computer or a mixer usually there is some latency that gets introduced. If you are unfamiliar with that term basically it means you will not hear your voice at the same time as you speak, there will be a very slight delay. Even though the delay is very short it’s enough to really throw you off. The headphone jack on the Ampligame A8 is zero latency. So there is no perceived delay from when you speak and when you hear your voice in your headphones.
  5. Included Accessories. If you have ever purchased a microphone you will know that the cost of accessories adds up very fast. The Fifine Ampligame A8 comes already assembled on a shock mount that is attached to a desk stand. Shock mounts are very important as they prevent sound vibrations from travelling from your desk to the microphone. A pop filter, another must have for clean audio, and a boom mount to allow you to attach the microphone to a boom arm are also included.
  6. Style. Now I admit that this is the least functional of the features but it is no less important. If you are going to have your mic on display on your desk and on your videos that you create you want it to look good. The Fifine Ampligame A8 does this very well. First you can choose between a black, white or pink microphone and stand. (Blue was also available but currently is not on Fifine’s website). That right away can make your mic match your personal style. On top of that though the Ampligame A8 has RGB lights which make the microphone glow which is very cool looking. You can choose between 7 solid colours, a dynamic solid colour gradient which slowly fades between solid colours or a dynamic multi-colour gradient which lights the mic up in two colours at once and slowly fades to new combinations. This is my personal favorite. The lighting is easily controlled with a touch sensitive “button” on the back of the microphone.

What are the Fifine Ampligame A8 specs?

I told you who Fifine is, the main points.to consider when looking for a microphone and even the Ampligame A8’s bonus features. Now you are probably wondering what the Ampligame A8 specs are. I agree those are very important but I think for the average person they are almost secondary to what I listed above. With that being said, the Ampligame A8 is a very capable microphone as far as specs go. The technical specs are listed below.

  • Type : Condenser
  • Polar Pattern: Cardioid
  • Power Consumption: USB 5V power
  • Frequency Response: 50Hz – 20kHz
  • Sensitivity: -40+/-3dB

What do I think?

If you are a gamer, podcaster, content creator, etc. you can’t go wrong with the Fifine Ampligame A8. It is a great sounding microphone that is simple to setup, use, looks great and comes at an amazing price. If you want to create music you will have to consider whether you want a condenser microphone or one that you can hold in your hand to sing live. You may also want to look at the frequency response to make sure that will work for you. If you are just starting out though I think the Ampligame A8 would probably work well for you as well. It might be good for veteran musicians too but I can’t comment on that since I am not one. Overall if you are looking for a great microphone I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the Fifine Ampligame A8.
