Kovol Sprint 65W Desktop USB Charger

Is your desk full of random USB charging adapters? Can you even find an adapter when you need one? Or maybe your laptop charger died? If any of these sound like you then you need to get a desktop USB charging hub. The Kovol Sprint 65W Desktop USB Charger is a great one to get.

What is the Kovol Sprint 65W?

The Kovol Sprint is a desktop USB charging hub. It has two USB-A ports as well as two USB-C PD ports to allow you to charge up to four devices at once. This will allow you to use shorter cables and tame that rats nest of wires that you, and many other people,  may have on and under your desk currently. It is powered by a single cord that is plugged into the wall socket so your cable situation is nice and tidy behind your desk as well.

Built-in Tech

As you would expect the Kovol Sprint has a bunch of tech built in to keep your attached devices safe and charging optimally.

  1. The Kovol Sprint has a quality build. You can read more about that in the “Build Quality” section.
  2. The Sprint has semi-conductors made with GaN technology. That is a fancy way of saying that they are made with Gallium Nitride. This material allows superior heat dissipation to allow for a much more efficient charge to your devices.
  3. The Sprint has built-in intelligent power allocation so each of your devices will charge at the optimal speed and in the safest way possible. This works whether you have one or four devices connected.
  4. The Sprint has what Kovol calls it’s Q-Pulse Charging Tech which protects your devices from problems such as short circuits, over current, high temperatures, power surges, etc.

Packaging

When you first get the Kovol Sprint you will immediately notice the packaging. Admittedly the packaging of products doesn’t really mean much but I find that if a company goes to the hassle of developing a nice box with good info they also usually take pride in the build quality of the product itself. The Sprint packaging is a nice simple design that lays out exactly what the product is and what is in the box. The charger itself is very secure as well and there is a minimal amount of plastic used which I definitely appreciate since it can almost all be recycled.

Build Quality

The Sprint 65W is very well built and Kovol backs this up by giving you a 1 year warranty and lifetime tech support. The charger feels very solid and it is quite compact. The body itself is 3″ long x 1.61″ wide x 1.61″ tall. It has a matte black finish which has a subtle grippy feel to it. The Sprint is also surprisingly heavy which, when it comes to a charger, is usually a good thing.  With that being said the entire charger and cord still only weigh 233 grams so it is still very portable.

Can the Sprint 65W charge the newest devices?

You are probably wondering if the Kovol Sprint has the ability to charge even the newest, most power hungry devices. Well, you can be assured that it does. The charger outputs a total of 65W. The USB-C PD ports can output the full amount if required and also support the PPS charging protocol. The USB-A ports have the ability to output 18W and support the QuickCharge 3.0 protocol.

Obviously the overall output is 65W total so you can’t give the max output power to four devices at once but if you look at your devices you will probably see that this really won’t be much of an issue. Only laptops really require high wattage and most smart phones and tablets max out around 30W. There are some that go higher of course but most stay at a lower rate.  For example the MacBook Pro 15.4″ charges at 65W and will go from 0% to 100% in approx. 2 hours with the Sprint 65W. You could also charge a MacBook Air which uses 45W and an iPhone which uses 20W at the same time. Of course you can also charge any other device that charges via USB too.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a more streamlined way to charge your devices you can’t go wrong with a USB desktop charger. With seemingly all devices being charged or powered full time by USB nowadays having the ability to plug four into the same charger is great. With its ability to charge four devices at extremely high rates, safely,  the Kovol Sprint 65W is a great desktop USB charger to get.
