Fifine K669B Condenser Microphone Review

Do you have a podcast? Maybe you stream your video games online? Or make YouTube videos or record your music? With any of these situations having great sounding audio is a must. Internal microphones have been getting better and better every year but they still don’t compare to dedicated external mics. The Fifine K669B is one you should look into.

Tech specs

The K669B is a condenser microphone. I won’t get fully into it but condenser mics are particularly great at recording sound in front of them and blocking sounds coming from other directions. The K669B is no exception.

It is powered by an attached, approximately 6ft. long, USB cable. If you are not aware condenser microphones need to have external power. There is a volume control on the front. It works very good to adjust the mic level or even completely mute it.

Now for the more techy specs. I am not going to go into what these all are as I am not an expert. I will list them all here though. The Polar Pattern of the mic is Cardioid. This basically means it is kind of shaped like a heart. The frequency response is 20-20000kHz. This matches the levels of human hearing so it is a great range. The mic sensitivity is -34+/-30% (at 1 kHz). The S/N ratio is 78dB and it uses USB 2.0.

Design

The Fifine K669B comes in a couple of different colors. Black and a pinkish/rose color. It is an all metal design including the mesh that covers the microphone. Overall the mic is pretty compact. It is approximately 5″ long and 2″ diameter, not including the tripod. It is also has some pretty good weight to it so it won’t easily tip over. The only control is the volume knob on the front.

As I mention above it comes with a small tripod. This tripod is a metal and plastic build and seems very sturdy. It holds the microphone off of the table a few inches and allows you to adjust the angle of the mount.

Performance

The Fifine K669B performs surprisingly well. It picks up sound very consistently from the front. It also does a pretty good job of blocking sound from the back and sides. The volume adjustment works perfectly too.

All you have to do is plug in the USB to your device and the mic is available. No drivers are required. According to the Fifine website it works with Mac, Windows and even PlayStation. It doesn’t work with XBox. I use Ubuntu Linux and it works perfectly for me too. I believe it will also work with your cell phone if your phone can work with external microphones. You will need a USB-A to USB-C/Lightning/Micro-USB adapter though.

To me the sound quality is great. I have used it for a few YouTube videos and my wife has tried it to record vocals for her music. In both instances it worked flawlessly. The sound is very crisp and clear and I don’t really notice any difference between the quality of bass, mid-range or treble.

It attaches very easily and securely to the tripod as well. The one problem that I have is that is does pick up wind and vocal pops a lot. This is a problem with all condenser microphones though. It would have been nice if it came with a cheap foam windscreen. Those can be found on Amazon for super cheap though so it definitely isn’t a deal breaker.

Conclusion

The Fifine K669B condenser microphone works great. It is as easy as it can be to attach to your computer, comes with a nice tripod, has a long cord and best of all the sound quality is great. It does lack a foam windscreen but those can be easily purchased very inexpensively. Best of all it is very inexpensive.

If you are doing any podcasting, music recording, video game streaming or video creation the Fifine K669B is probably the best deal that you can get. I suggest that you by this before trying anything else.
